oooAbout Appel Farms >>

Welcome to Appel Farms. I'm Tim Appel (pronounced apple), fine artist for Appel Farms. I was born in a small town in western Ohio called Edgerton. I was raised on a dairy farm surrounded by acres and acres of land. It was a great place to spend my childhood ... with my best friend and dog, Queenie. Our adventures would lead us through the woods and fields... me with my drawing pad and Queenie with her enthusiasm. When my mom rang the dinner bell, we would return at sundown with many pencil sketches and a pretty decent collection of Indian arrowheads. As long as I can recall, I've always loved to draw. After garduating from high school, I traveled east to New Jersey to pursue an education at Joe Kubert Graphic Arts School, where I majored in drawing and comic book art. My experience encompasses many stages of the art business from paste-up in advertising agencies to illustration for a newspaper publisher to freelance work for DC and Marvel Comics. Presently, I am employed full time as head pressman for a small print shop. I live in western New Jersey with my wife, 2 kids, 2 horses, 2 dogs and a couple of barn cats.

I'm Maryann Appel, designer for Appel Farms. I was born and raised in New Jersey and attended the University of Hartford in Connecticut. I have been in the graphic design business for nearly two decades. Over the years, I have gone from a beat up, scratched into second hand drafting table with a swing arm lamp (the kind that would always fall over) ... to a polished computer table, a wireless high-speed laptop, a color printer, oodles of software, etc. The tools of the trade have changed but not my relish for design nor my ambition to create. I have a strong enthusiasm for every phase of the graphics business: research, concept and design, supervising a staff of designers, meeting with clients and determining budget lines, making presentations, going on press runs for print approval and tackling the challenges of designing for the Web. I have worked in the creative departments of such corporations as Coleco Toys, Macy's, Burson-Marsteller and the United Jewish Federation. In between, I have pursued a freelance business and have worked with charities (The Ronald McDonald House). For the past 10 years, I have been employed by an investment firm in New Jersey, formerly located in NYC, as Assistant Vice President of Graphic Communications, and most recently, Senior Manager of Image and Promotional Marketing.
